About the Work
Studio Works, a companion exhibition to Promiseland (2020), presents a series of works on paper incorporating picket fence posts.
The exhibition brings together studies ranging from small-scale drawings in colored pencil, ink, and pigment to larger, more complex compositions rendered in acrylic. A unique rubbing technique produces delicate, charcoal-like surfaces that emphasize variation, resulting in distinct textures across works made from the same wooden picket.
Across the series, the picket fence shifts between a recognizable object and varying configurations that suggest people, places, and structures.
