imprint studies - oxidation and surface
Imprint Studies: Surface and Oxidation is a series in which a metal solution is applied directly to paper over top objects such as a picket and rebar, and allowed to oxidize over several days, creating a living rusted surface. The process is both chemical and time-based, with each layer of patina building intensity, texture, and image. The work functions as both free-form printmaking and a record of Williams' material interests, leaving evidence of a regionally specific practice.
