Fletcher Williams III was commissioned by the Colour of Music Festival to create this year's official poster. For Williams, it was an opportunity to create something that represented both the elegance of classical music and the beauty of Charleston South Carolina's culture. The collaboration resulted in a 4.5ft wooden sculpture filled with multi-colored handwoven Charleston Palmetto Roses. Once the sculpture was complete, Williams took it to historic downtown Charleston and photographed it in front of a blue stucco wall located at the intersection of Society and EastBay St.
"I would like to thank the Colour of Music Festival and Lee Pringle for an amazing opportunity. It's been an honor creating art that celebrates the historical significance of black classical composers and performers and envelopes local culture." - Fletcher Williams III
*Williams will be creating a total of 5 treble clefs to commemorate the festival. For inquires, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
